Frequently Asked Questions
What are you doing?
We’re taking four months, unplugging from our life in Seattle, and traveling around the world.
Call it a sabbatical. Call it a honeymoon. We call it a Sabbateymoon.
It’s all of the above.
How are you able to do that?
Matt is incredibly lucky to work for Brighton Jones, who generously provides their employees with a paid sabbatical after they’ve worked at the company for ten years. Matt can’t say enough about how grateful he is to have spent the last decade of his professional career at such an awesome company, working with people whom he both looks up to and loves spending time with.
Natalie has spent the last eleven years building an amazing nutrition coaching practice (and not giving herself enough days off). So, after a little over a decade on the clock, she’s cashing in some much deserved time off.
What was the name of that company Matt works for?
Looking for a financial advisor? Check out Brighton Jones.
Looking for an awesome place to work? Check out Brighton Jones.

Where are you two going?
Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Seychelles, South Africa, Singapore, Cambodia, and Thailand!
How did you decide where to go?
Everywhere we’re going on this trip is new to at least one of us (except Reykjavik - we love Iceland). Generally speaking, we’re hitting a bunch of cities/regions that are on our bucket list - whether that’s because they look outrageously pretty, they’re conducive to being in the mountains, and/or because they’re parts of the map that we’ve been nowhere near before.
Why do you guys have a website?
Partly because our grandparents don’t have Instagram. Partly to justify the ten pounds of camera gear Matt packed. Partly to document Natalie crushing Matt on every hike they go on together. And partly because Matt has this unwarranted (is it?) fear that after four months of living out of a duffel bag, the whole trip is going to feel like a blur and we won’t remember some of the cool stuff that happened along the way.
So, like, are you guys going to write trip reports or something?
Like, yeah. We’ll write about the places we’ve been, things we’d recommend doing, things we’d recommend not doing, etc. Matt’s personally on a quest to find the best bakery in every city he visits, and Natalie’s searching for the best soaking tub setups in the world, so there will likely be some quality content on those two fronts, too.
Are you guys on the Instagram?
Oh, you know it. You can follow us here.
Is there any way for me to get in touch with you guys?
